Brian was born in upstate New York and grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the son of a retired insurance company executive and an artist.
Brian's older brother is a Sociology professor at Baruch College and his younger brother is a film editor and professional skateboarder. After receiving his BA in History from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1994, Brian pursued a career as a race car driver, taught in the Santa Barbara County School system, and worked at New Horizon's Group Home for Special Needs persons.
