Raised on a small Ohio farm, Karen Colburn spent her young years caring for horses, dogs, birds, ducks, and rabbits.
As a young adult, she lived in a log cabin with her Old English sheepdog, Daisy, and pet raccoons Bennie and Rocky.
Following graduate school, Karen took her first professional publishing job in Washington, DC, and divided her time between her Thoroughbred Quarterhorse mix, Starlit River Dazzle; gray kitty, Emily; and two Old English Sheepdogs, Eliza Violet and Samantha Bluebell.
