In our boarding and training, we use consistency, reward based training, and trust to foster a cooperative and happy attitude.
Motivational methods (finding each dog's motivators and preferred learning style and pace). We use these approaches with both our dog training and our boarding canine clients. Quite frankly, it's simply good, common sense with a compassionate attitude. Of course in any type of in home dog boarding and training, a major focus is dog proofing the home, and also managing the dogs' interactions with us and other dogs.

Currently my canine partner is Penny (DOB: 10/20/16), a female Flat Coated Retriever.
Penny is much smaller than many Flat Coats but she is quite the tomboy and holds her own with other dogs.
She has a ton of speed, athletic ability, and a natural ease with people and dogs.

BEHAVIORAL ASSESSMENT: A comprehensive and objective assessment of your dog's personality and behavior with recommendations.
This takes one hour and you will receive a report with recommendations.

At this time we refer out to other trainers for: Severe separation anxiety, thunder phobia, and aggression.
BOARD AND TRAIN: We offer this service if you have found you don't have the time to effectively train your dog at home.

The first video below gives a glimpse of Rosie's (a foster rescue dog) early training.
She was a wild child, about 3 years old and turned in to Foothills Golden Retriever Rescue due to being out of control in her home, and as a result lived outside with little contact from her family.
She was poorly socialized and greatly lacking in attention skills and basic obedience.
Also, she was very undernourished.
The happy ending is that she is now a store dog/customer service specialist at a local jeweler's in Hendersonville!

IMHO, it's best to initially train distance stays away from the equipment, and get them solid in different locations and with different distractions, as well as adding distance.
Then, intro Start Line Stays with your agility equipment.
Encourages a quick "go" and snappy return.
