Her last government posting was Mexico City, and she drove north to Round Rock with two cats in the backseat of a very small car.
Those two cats have since moved on to the Rainbow Bridge, but there has been no shortage of animals in her life.
Karen presently lives with three cats - Joy, who is blind and deaf - Minnie, who is fat and cuddly - and handsome tiger striped cat Fred, who is three.
