Welcome to The Well Heeled Dog, a professional dog walking service established in 1999 to serve the needs of dog owners throughout the downtown neighborhoods of Chelsea, West Village, and Greenwich Village. We are a New York City dog walking company with a commitment to the downtown NYC dog owning community. Now entering our 20th year, we are one of the longest running owner operated dog walking services in downtown Manhattan.
We are not an app-based service designed in Silicon Valley. We are a small, personalized pet care service that has remained committed to providing the most professional, attentive service available. We take great care in providing a consistent walker for your dog which enables us to develop a deeper connection with your pet and better communication with you.
Many of our dogs have been with us from puppyhood through their golden years and people often tell us that the dogs we walk look like our own!.

Growing up on a small farm, Mat was exposed to all kinds of animals and spent much of his time riding horses and walking on trails with his German Shepherd, Gazer.
After graduating from the University of North Texas with a degree in music he moved to NYC and shortly after, founded The Well Heeled Dog.
An avid woodworker, Mat spends much of his spare time in his shop with his dogs Andy and Bucky.
Rikard was born in Sigtuna, Sweden and grew up in exotic places such as South Korea, Singapore, Greece and Long Island.

Before they have all their shots, we may do home visits and slowly move them outdoors and allow them to acclimate when the time is right.
Seniors are able to walk at their own pace.
We've seen hip issues.
We know how hard the 4th floor walk up can be.
We want to keep the wise ones feeling their best and will work with their individual needs.
