Absolute Gun Dogs
Our specialty is gun dog training and breeding for the field and competition. Our name derives from our commitment to bring out the best in any dog, be it for hunting, field trialing, or as a loving pet around the house; the absolute best your dog can be. Pheasant hunting and gun dogs are a way of life here in North Dakota.

Having hunted over all the breeds through the years, we believe field English Cockers, English Springer Spaniels, and the British Labrador Retrievers make the ideal 'all-round' gun dogs, not only for their stamina, nose, and their affinity for water, but for their easy going natures and enthusiasm for people. In this way they are a lot like us here at Absolute, easy-going and enthusiastic.

It's a good match! To the owner of an 'Absolute' trained dog this is our commitment: To field a happy, enthusiastic, and productive canine companion that is, true, whole, and complete. Any season of the year this is what it should be all about; a good day with a great dog.
Services
My name is Dan Murray.
I was born and raised along with my two brothers and three sisters 8 miles east of Bismarck, North Dakota, on the banks of Apple Creek, not far from where our current kennel operation sits today.
First and foremost I am a family man.
My wife and partner Jen, and our four kids, Justin, Abbi, Paige, and Daniel, are my top priorities and first loves.
Right after that comes gun dogs, I guess.
I have always loved animals, especially dogs.
We had a total of three English Springer Spaniels while I was growing up.
At Absolute we feature obedience training for all breeds.
As dog lovers ourselves, we know that thorough obedience training is the key to a happy, confident, and well-adjusted dog.
The use of traditional positive reinforcement techniques will result in a quick and willing response to such basic commands as sit, stay, come, and heel.
This will also result in a dog who loves to learn and to please.
After your puppy has the obedience training ground work to ensure an enjoyable and long-term relationship with you, you may decide to take him or her to the next level.
Our dog training philosophy?
Traditional methods, featuring positive reinforcement.
We don't use electric collars on our dogs.
Our ultimate goal is to produce high-performance, biddable dogs that perform out of a desire to please, not to avoid pain.
As pack animals dogs learn by physical contact, both pleasant and not-so-pleasant.
By using positive reinforcement training techniques coupled with thoughtful correction and firm but fair discipline as happens in a pack, a dog becomes centered around his 'leader' naturally and happily.
My brothers and I have been hunting pheasants, grouse, and coyote on this very parcel for as long as I can remember.
We emphasize serious water work for the English Cocker, English Springers, Labs, and all of our training dogs.
We have carved out a water pond on our property to give the dogs a means of a more consistent water program.
Using live birds and dummies, we create every conceivable situation your dog will encounter as a hunter or field trial dog.
No doubt about it!
We love the water work, and we're absolutely sure your dog will too.
Training fee for obedience and field training is $1050 per calendar month.
Starting 8/1/2021 it will be $1200/month.
Training fee includes boarding, our food, birds, training supplies, and a monthly visit from the veterinarian( 1 visit per month).
If your dog has special dietary needs, we are happy to feed the food that you provide, as well as medications and supplements.
Additional fees for training injuries or illness are the responsibility of the owner.
We do our best to keep all dogs safe, but when you're working with athletes there's always the chance for injury.
