In 1977 while still living in Florida, Dawn met Jarrett Thompson, owner of Old South Pointer Farms a renowned kennel for bird-dogs. She claims the thing that gravitated her to her future husband was his love for dogs, a passion she shared with him. Dawn and Jarrett were married in 1981 and immediately set their sights on Texas. Old South Pointer Farms relocated to Rosanky where it continued it's successful operation and where Dawn got her experience caring for the dogs at the Farms.
But another dream was churning within Dawn, to have a boarding kennel, a place where folks could feel comfortable about leaving their pets. It is Dawn's belief that dogs are God's greatest creation because they demonstate the unconditional love the Lord has for us. Dawn would tell you it is her calling to be a care-taker of God's creation. The story of Best Friends origin doesn't stop here.
