We rely on donations and do not receive government, state, or city funding. The rescue is operated almost entirely by volunteers. Since 1996, Canine Adoption and Rescue League has rescued and placed thousands of unwanted, sick, abandoned and homeless dogs. Dogs in our adoption program are placed in pre-screened, loving and secure homes. We make a lifetime commitment to all of our dogs.

In 2005, C.A.R.L. purchased an operating boarding kennel open to the public and centrally located to the west of Santa Paula off the 126 Freeway. The facility was re-named to C.A.R.L.'s Pet Care Center.
The two acre property includes a 2,400 square foot on site residence, 60 outdoor runs with concrete foundation and concrete brick houses, 30 indoor/outdoor runs with concrete flooring, 15 outdoor runs with concrete flooring and concrete brick sidewalls, 50 exercise yards and grooming facilities.

Small to medium dogs, as well as seniors of all sizes, are generally housed in our indoor/outdoor runs.
The indoor area of these runs are 4'x5' with a guillotine (doggie door type) which allows for unlimited access to the outdoor area throughout the day.
The outdoor area of these runs are 5'x10' with a view of our play yards and front entry area.
Larger dogs are housed in our outdoor runs.
The outdoor runs are covered 6'x12' chain link with a completely enclosed brick doghouse style cubicle.
Giant dogs are housed in our double outdoor runs.

Your pet will be taken to the front exercise yard for twenty minutes of fun with a kennel technician.
This allows your pet the opportunity to romp around the yard off-leash, play fetch, and enjoy quality time being pet and loved on.
Your pet will be taken for on-leash walk in our front yard with a kennel technician for ten minutes.
