Our programs range from on-site immersive training camps where your pet stays with us or on-site home visits where one of our trainers can come to your home and assess your needs.
We also offer certificate completion programs for the AKC's Canine Good Citizen, which is a prerequisite for many therapy dog certifications. With over 40 years of experience, Dave has placed multiple dogs in Police/Military/Government service in the United States and abroad, has trained/certified hundreds of dog/handler teams in Narcotics, Explosive Detection work, and Patrol Dog programs.

Dave Taylor started Cedar Valley Canine in 1993.
The business was originally known as Cedar Valley Kennel, aptly named because he lived in a cedar valley just outside of Nashville.
In 2010, Dave moved to Alabama to become a Level IV instructor at The Auburn University Canine Detection Training Center, putting his own business on hold for a little bit.
However, after a successful time with Auburn, he moved back to Nashville to continue with Cedar Valley Canine.
Today, we are located just outside of Nashville with access to major interstates and only 30 minutes from Nashville International Airport.

We establish a language between the dog and owner that gives the dog a clear understanding of the positive consequences associated with certain behaviors.
At the appropriate stage of training, we use negative reinforcers to teach the dog consequences of unwanted behavior.

This is especially true for breeding female dogs, as they are our resource for the next generation of beloved pets and service dogs.
We partner with local families, who contribute to our breeding program as Foster Families and in return receive a "free trained Cedar Valley female dog."
Once your dog's breeding career has been completed, she will be neutered at our expense, and full ownership will be given to the Foster Family and the dog will remain your forever pet.
This is especially true for breeding female dogs, as they are our resource for the next generation of beloved pets and service dogs.
