Have a happy, calm dog you can take anywhere, anytime. From basic obedience to problem behaviors, we work with all types of dogs and their people. We begin training in your home and then progress to "field trips" - real life situations.

Where do you want to go? Crowded streets, trails, dog parks, office settings, malls- wherever you are experiencing the most difficulties with your dog. We will set up goals during our initial assessment and work with for as long as you have your dog for one flat rate. And we will continue all training support for as long as you have your dog.
Services
As a licensed psychotherapist, I understand the difference between human's emotional needs and dog's emotional needs.
Dogs often exhibit behavioral issues when they are treated like furry humans.
I work to help dog owners understand their dogs emotional needs and build better relationships between dogs and their humans.
Before studying to become a dog trainer, I worked as a Clinical Social Worker for over 20 years with children, adults and families.
I helped people improve communication in difficult situations; parents understand children, couples understand each other and people from diverse backgrounds and cultures work better together.
Obviously, private training is much more expensive - initially.
However, when one takes into account how many classes need to be taken to get to the level achieved with DogOvation and how much time is wasted waiting for classes to start, commute time, etc., individual training can be on par with group classes.
And of course, private training is much more efficient, can work directly with your dog and your family's needs at your schedule.
Given that dogs learn most efficiently in a distraction-free environment, in-home training allows the trainer to fully focus on you and your dog, rather than managing a class full of dogs and their people.
Owners of dogs with aggression and anxiety issues have dogs who are often severely impacting their lives.
And not in a good way.
I train owners of dogs with aggression (towards both other dogs and people) and anxiety issues to help their dogs resolve these issues, resulting in happier, healthier dogs and owners.
The same underlying issue often cause aggression and anxiety; the relationship between dog and owner.
The resulting behaviors, including damage to property, excessive barking and/or howling, and aggression can cause stress for owners.
People are often fearful about adopting rescue and shelter dogs for a variety of reasons.
Dogs often end up in rescues and shelters through no fault of their own or due to a lack of training, which has resulted in bad "habits".
It is a common belief that training a shelter or rescue dog is "impossible" because his or her history is unknown.
Some feel that a rescue dog has been "traumatized" and is incapable of change or that they need to be pitied because of their past.
Often, if they have had a dog for a while, owners feel that they have lived with unwanted behavior for so long, that it is too late for training.
Did you know that the best age to start training your puppy is the first day you get him or her?
Puppies are wonderful, cute, soft cuddly sweet little things.
And they also can (and usually do) drive us crazy!
The good news is that puppies have an amazing ability to learn between the ages of 8 weeks and 16 weeks - a "golden period" of learning.
During this stage they are like little learning sponges, eager to check out the world, interested in everything and with an ability to pick up new skills unlike at any other stage in their lives.
