We are a custom dog training service in Minnesota. We serve clients who are looking for fully-trained dogs, behavior modification training, obedience training, service dog training and police canine training and development. It is our mission to provide quality service to our clients. We serve the greater Twin Cities Metropolitan area, and also receive dogs from throughout the Upper Midwest.
A: The dog stays at our facility and is assigned their own run/kennel space. Kennels and runs are cleaned multiple times a day and staff consistently monitors the facility to ensure it is clean, safe and efficient for the training process. A: Generally, no. Any dog that has bitten another animal or human (regardless of severity) will not be accepted into the program.
We offer a consultation fee of $100 to have your dog evaluated prior to entering the program. We maintain perspective and will always put human lives first when making decisions regarding training aggressive dogs. A: Required items include medications, current vaccinations and a negative fecal sample (within one year).

My name is Andy Helgerson and I founded Minnesota Canine Consulting in 2015 using a no-nonsense approach to training that is steeped in my police canine roots.

A: If properly trained, the dog will be subordinate to the commands, and not the collar, which means that it will listen even when the collar is not on.
However, as with all training, there is an extinction period and eventually, if not properly maintained, the dog will no longer respond since there is nothing to 'monitor' the behavior and provide correction when necessary.
The short answer: the dog will always wear the collar when off leash and when control is expected.

Andy took him for 10 days and we now have the dog I knew he could be.
Andy sent us videos during Gordon's stay and kept in touch.
He was very responsive to texts.
I expected him to learn his manners, but what I didn't know is that he would be so much calmer.
He can relax now instead of barking at anything that moves.
We can enjoy time outside again!
He is a different dog.

Our boot camps vary in duration based upon the complexity of the contract and each individual dog's needs.
Please note that the time is an estimate based upon the specific details you provide when booking your dog's training package.
We do NOT charge more if the training takes longer AND is within the terms of the contract.
For example, if you request an off leash recall and the estimated time is two weeks, we will make every effort to deliver this within that time frame, however, if additional time is needed, we will continue working at not extra charge until that goal is met.
